Our 1-year anniversary party was so much fun. Just enough decadence, just enough debauchery, just enough friends…
If you don’t believe my words, here’s pictorial proof. It was a great mix of great friends and new faces and of course, pumpkin cupcakes. Go ahead and mark your calendar for next year’s festivities.

Enjoy the day! xx

So, Stephanie has been doing an amazing job of wrapping soaps. It’s on the cusp of greatness, really. I mean, seriously, look at that attention to detail. And as always, all of the wrapping is 100% ecofriendly. You can get yours here.

Oh boy, we are so excited about the newest products on the way! Especially our eco-friendly candles. These luminous goodies are made from 100% soy wax (gives a long-lasting and clean burn life), essential oils, and are packaged in recycled glass containers. Most candle companies use wicks that are coated in paraffin (petroleum based wax), but not skinnyskinny! Our wicks are coated in vegetable wax (better for the environment). We’re in the process of testing out scents, and so far we love the smell of lavender and rosemary, grapefruit and cardamom, and a yummy citrus concoction of lime, bergamot, and lemongrass. As always, we love customer input! What are your favorite candle scents? What would your dream candle smell like? We’ll be sure to keep you posted when these lovely items become available for purchase.

This week’s Store of the Week comes to you from the windy city. Check out the eco-fabulous website, Pure Habitat!

skinnyskinny: Tell us a little bit about your location.
Pure Habitat: We are based in Chicago, but being online I guess you can say we are everywhere. Pure Habitat started out of my small studio apartment in the Wicker Park area. It is one of my favorite places in the world (and I have been around the world multiple times). It is filled with outdoor cafes, amazing boutiques, and just one of the greatest vibes you will find anywhere. It is very eclectic. I still work from home whenever I can, because it is so nice to be in this area.
skinnyskinny: What makes Pure Habitat unique?
Pure Habitat: Pure Habitat is unique in that it has everything you need to live consciously. From organic personal care products and bedding to fair trade jewelry and handbags, you can really find everything you need.
skinnyskinny: Tell us about your customers.
Pure Habitat: Our customers are just amazing. We just started a couple months ago, and we have had some of the best customers that I have ever had working retail. They have been really excited about the site, and have suggested some great lines that we have brought on. They are making this a lot of fun.
skinnyskinny: What is your favorite skinnyskinny product?
Pure Habitat: I love the organic lime and mint soap. It makes me smile every time I use it.

So, our workshop/store already smells amazing. Just ask anybody who’s ever been here. On days, like today, when we make our awesome Organic Clementine and Clove Body Scrub, the whole place just takes on a slightly warmer, slightly home-ier scent. Clove, while not being at all overpowering in our recipe, is still so evocative of so many good things and nice times. Holidays, spiced tea, fireplaces, warmth… The best part is that it smells so nice on your skin. The scrub is a blend of sea salt and organic turbinado sugar, jojoba, sesame and virgin coconut oils. It gently exfoliates while leaving your skin incredibly soft and moisturized. It’s one of my favorite scent blends. Just the right balance of sugar and spice.

For all you folks in Brooklyn, we’re starting a new project (OMG! it’s so hush-hush…) and we’d be oh-so-happy to take your old empties off your hands. We’ll even give you something awesome in return (we’re intentionally generous negotiators…). So, drop by our store at 129 Roebling Street with your empty wine bottles. Say ‘hi’ and know that your empties are really truly being recycled. So, drink up! It’s for a good cause.

Having a store is pretty awesome usually, but one of the nicest things is that my dog makes so many friends. I swear she seems to have more friends than I do. This is my pup, Haley (the black one) with Blanche outside the store:

Have a good day, everyone.

To be honest, I’m kind of obsessed with the Organic Grapefruit and Cardamom dry shampoo. I’m one of those people who loves the way my hair looks the day after washing, and on the following day I’m so disappointed that I have to re-wash my hair and suffer a day of frizz. Not anymore! I had a little contest with myself when testing out the skinnyskinny dry shampoo. So far, I’ve gone FOUR days without needing to wash my hair. Four! I’ve even received compliments from strangers on how great my hair looks, where I of course animatedly describe the benefits of this dry shampoo. And the scent, oh my goodness. I have tried other dry shampoos before, but I can honestly say I have never smelled one as amazing as the Grapefruit and Cardamom. It’s the perfect mixture of citrus and spice. Not only does my hair look amazing, it smells amazing too! I could go on and on, but the best way to come to a conclusion about this fabulous product is to try it yourself!
