skinnyskinny t-shirt design contest!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

(by Clara Williams)

very rudimentary design for t-shirt

We’ve heard that some of our fans and customers are talented on the design front.  We’ve also heard that some are not, but that’s alright.  We’re pretty sure the not-so-creative ones among us are good for laughs, getting coffee, what-not… My point is that everyone has their respective strengths, but for now we are seeking out creativity.  Anyway, we will soon be getting some new (ie, AWESOME) t-shirts printed and thought we’d like to make a contest of it all.  These tees will be organic cotton and printed with eco-friendly inks.

So, what’s in it for you, the creative participant?  Well, the winning design will get $150, plus $50 in skinnyskinny products.  And if that’s not enough, you’ll also get the fame, glory, and skinnyskinny adoration.

The specs:

Preferrably the designs would be for 1-2 color printing, but if it’s like the best design ever, then we’ll print 3 color.

Designs can be posted here or on our skinnyskinny fan page , but the completed file should be emailed to info@skinnyskinny.com .

Files should be Illustrator, Photoshop, or PDF.

Print size should not be larger than 10″x10″.

Deadline is March 14, 2010.

So, get to work!  We need some new shirts.

Questions: just email us at info@skinnyskinny.com

And here’s a skinnyskinny logo for you to work with.  Feel free to change color and size.

Belated Valentine’s Post

Monday, February 15th, 2010

skinnyskinny’s friend, Kara Hamilton (who makes amazing wearable art/jewelry), originally posted this picture (that originally was in the NYTimes).  It’s from the Westminster Dog Show.  It’s kinda great, huh?  It seemed a little Valentine-y, but maybe I’m wrong about that.  Enjoy! Happy 2010! New Year’s Resolution contest!

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Resolution photoWith the new year, I’ve decided that I’m going to start my Rosetta Stone Italian lessons again.  I’m still at the beginning of level 1, but it’s been more than a year since I even opened up the program.  I will still throw in a random Italian word when I’m talking to my Italian-American husband, but I’ve probably worn out the cuteness of that particular example of my worldiness.  Aside from this, I’ve decided to go easier on myself in general but to also be better to/for myself.  I, for one, am happy to be rid of 2009. It was a good year for skinnyskinny, but a tough year personally and I still consider myself lucky.

So, without further ado, we are having a contest for the best New Year’s Resolution of 2010!  Our judging will be fickle, but there will be 3 winners.  Each winner will receive a $25 coupon for our store and/or site.  To enter, just email your New Year’s Resolution to us at info@skinnyskinny.com by 5pm EST Thursday, January 7, 2010.  That’s it.  And then you can use the coupon to get whatever you need to get a fresh clean organic start in 2010.

20% off sale storewide!

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

We hope everyone has had a spectacular holiday.  Til 12/31/09 we’re offering 20% off of every skinnyskinny item in our store and on our site.  All you have to do is enter the code ’skinnyskinny09′ during the checkout and the savings are yours.  Get our great organic soaps, lip balms, salts, gifts and more.  Plus, you still get the great $4.95 flat-rate USPS Priority shipping so, really, what could be better?  Scrub off 2009 (it really was a tough year) and welcome in 2010 with fresh clean skin!

skinnyskinny Scavenger Hunt contest (with giveaway)

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Greetings to everyone!  We have decided to have a contest.  Not just some boring ol’ contest, but a scavenger hunt. What do you win?  Well, the first person to complete the tasks will receive $100 gift certificate for skinnyskinny’s great organic and ecofriendly products.  2nd place will win a $75 gift certificate and 3rd place will win a $50 gift certificate.  Not bad, huh?

So, what are the rules? You must document (with a photo) the completion of each task and post the images onto our Facebook fan photo album or email them to us and we’ll post them for you.  Our facebook page is here: www.facebook.com/skinnyskinny .  You cannot be an employee of skinnyskinny.  Once you have completed the tasks, just post a comment on the Facebook page.  We’ll verify and voila!  We’ll have the winners.

Tasks:

1. Take a picture of the oddest/funniest use of recycled/reclaimed/repurposed materials. You know, something where they meant well, but something just went a little wrong.

2. Take a picture of your favorite object (not a person) and attach a short tag to the photo to explain the importance.

3. Make something better (and take a picture). This can be about design, or improving on a recipe or even making someone feel better.

4. Do something on your procrastination list and check it off (and send a picture). This would be something that you’ve been meaning to do for a long time, like send a thank you note or call a friend or donate to a charity or weed the garden.

And that’s it.  These don’t need to be done in any specific order.  If anyone would like more information or has any trouble posting images, then simply email us at info@skinnyskinny.com .

This is a great time to enter because we are just about to launch our amazing new organic body scrubs as well as some beautiful (in more ways than one) organic potpourris.

So, get to work.   And good luck

UPDATE: We have a 1st and 2nd place winner, but we are still looking for our 3rd place winner. Consider yourself challenged.  Here is a picture sent in by one of the winners, Sandi Sandman, along with her really touching explanation: Sandi Sandman's cat JunebugThis is Junebug.
She was dumped at a high kill shelter and left for dead.
I consider her, like ALL of my animals, menagerie or farm RECYCLED.
In this day and age,any animal that is born in to this world is because a selfish and uneducated human who allowed their “pet” to breed.
Over 50% of these creatures are thrown away or dumped at shelters.
On average ,it costs 100 dollars a day to house these animals. Half of them are euthanized.

Junebug was dumped after having a litter for kittens.
I met her last June ( 2008 ) and we have been in love ever since.
She is my recycled or found and reusable object.
She makes a great comforter and doubles as a replacement companion when my husband goes on tour.
She gives me hours and hours of stress relief.
