Introducing Travel Size Organic Dry Shampoos!

Monday, October 17th, 2011

It’s not uncommon for us to burst into high-pitched squeals and spontaneous “awws” when we talk about the newest addition to the skinnyskinny family. These adorable travel size organic dry shampoos put the ‘fun’ in ‘function’. They work just like the larger shampoos, absorbing oil and creating texture all while leaving your hair deliciously-scented. Now in a one ounce travel size version, these bad boys can go with you just about anywhere! They easily fit into purses, pockets, carry-ons, and gym bags. And with the holidays just around the corner, they make the perfect mini-gift and stocking stuffer! We can’t wait for you to try them, and we hope you love them just as much as we do!

New Product Spotlight: Designs for Small Spaces

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

The printed word is not dead! We here at skinnyskinny are thrilled to introduce a unique selection of books to our product lineup. Seeing as New York City is home to some of the tiniest apartments and living spaces around, it made perfect sense for us to offer “Designs For Small Spaces” by Jennifer Hudson for our cramped and confined neighbors.

This book is chock-full of innovative design ideas to accommodate even the smallest of dwellings. The best part: there’s info on where to buy each item! No longer will we city slickers be creatively limited by our lack of space. The book quotes Leonarda da Vinci, “small rooms or dwellings discipline the mind, large ones weaken it”. I’m not saying I wouldn’t mind a larger apartment, but at least now I have some tips on how to fully appreciate my small one.

Organic Clementine with just a little Clove Body Scrub

Friday, October 8th, 2010

(by Clara)

So, our workshop/store already smells amazing.  Just ask anybody who’s ever been here.  On days, like today, when we make our awesome Organic Clementine and Clove Body Scrub, the whole place just takes on a slightly warmer, slightly home-ier scent. Clove, while not being at all overpowering in our recipe, is still so evocative of so many good things and nice times. Holidays, spiced tea, fireplaces, warmth… The best part is that it smells so nice on your skin.  The scrub is a blend of sea salt and organic turbinado sugar, jojoba, sesame and virgin coconut oils. It gently exfoliates while leaving your skin incredibly soft and moisturized.  It’s one of my favorite scent blends.  Just the right balance of sugar and spice.

Do You Drink Wine? We Can Help…

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

(by Clara)

For all you folks in Brooklyn, we’re starting a new project (OMG! it’s so hush-hush…) and we’d be oh-so-happy to take your old empties off your hands.  We’ll even give you something awesome in return (we’re intentionally generous negotiators…). So, drop by our store at 129 Roebling Street with your empty wine bottles.  Say ‘hi’ and know that your empties are really truly being recycled.  So, drink up! It’s for a good cause.

PRITI Polishes Have Arrived

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Guess what? These are ecofriendly, completely non-toxic polishes in amazing shades. PRITI nail polishes do not contain known carcinogens like toluene, formaldehyde and DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate). They are also cruelty free and safe to use by mothers to be, which is kind of a hard find when it comes to nail polishes! We’re only selling these in our shop, not online, so stop by our Brooklyn shop and take a look.

skinnyskinny t-shirt design contest!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

(by Clara Williams)

very rudimentary design for t-shirt

We’ve heard that some of our fans and customers are talented on the design front.  We’ve also heard that some are not, but that’s alright.  We’re pretty sure the not-so-creative ones among us are good for laughs, getting coffee, what-not… My point is that everyone has their respective strengths, but for now we are seeking out creativity.  Anyway, we will soon be getting some new (ie, AWESOME) t-shirts printed and thought we’d like to make a contest of it all.  These tees will be organic cotton and printed with eco-friendly inks.

So, what’s in it for you, the creative participant?  Well, the winning design will get $150, plus $50 in skinnyskinny products.  And if that’s not enough, you’ll also get the fame, glory, and skinnyskinny adoration.

The specs:

Preferrably the designs would be for 1-2 color printing, but if it’s like the best design ever, then we’ll print 3 color.

Designs can be posted here or on our skinnyskinny fan page , but the completed file should be emailed to info@skinnyskinny.com .

Files should be Illustrator, Photoshop, or PDF.

Print size should not be larger than 10″x10″.

Deadline is March 14, 2010.

So, get to work!  We need some new shirts.

Questions: just email us at info@skinnyskinny.com

And here’s a skinnyskinny logo for you to work with.  Feel free to change color and size.

Valentine’s Day Gift Cards

Monday, February 8th, 2010

At skinnyskinny, we always try to go above and beyond what is expected of us.  I think of it as going the extra mile, though I’m not a runner and we should all probably try to drive a little less.  Whatever.  The point here is that we’ve added some excellent new gift cards just in time for Valentine’s Day.  They are printed on 100% PCW paper, of course.  And you get one free when you send a gift.  We’ll even hand-write a message for you.

First up: you make me happiest.

you make me happiest

Next: i love almost everything about you.  (who doesn’t love a sense of humor?)

i love almost everything about you.

And third: i love you more than _______.  (you can even fill in the blank!)

i love you more than ________.

These will be added to our site shortly.  We’re also adding some limited edition Valentine’s products.  More on that later.

Organic Potpourri!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

For anyone who knows me, you will know I have been on a quest for some time now to re-hab potpourri’s image.  Usually, when I tell someone that I’ve been working on it, I’m lucky if the person just says ‘huh…?’  Often enough, there’s outright derision.  Well, to prove to all those nay-sayers that potpourri can be as beautiful, enticing and complex, here at long last is skinnyskinny’s first entry into the potpourri world: Organic Lavender & Sage Potpourri.

All of the ingredients in this blend are certified organic.  It’s made from lavender buds, white ceremonial sage, lemons and limes (that we cut and dried ourselves), roses, birds’ eye chili peppers, and lots of other little goodies.  This potpourri is great as a room freshener or in sachets.  The scent is strong and well-balanced.  It’s not overly cloying or perfume-y.  It’s really lovely.   And it can be yours very very soon, basically as soon as it gets added to our site.

UPDATE: It is done.  Go here to get your own.  And say good-bye to cinnamon and pine cones in your potpourri.  We’ll be adding our superb Orange and Fennel potpourri tomorrow.  Just wait til you see (and smell) that one.  It’s gorgeous all around.
