Proof of Our 1-Year Anniversary Party!

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Our 1-year anniversary party was so much fun.  Just enough decadence, just enough debauchery, just enough friends…

If you don’t believe my words, here’s pictorial proof.  It was a great mix of great friends and new faces and of course, pumpkin cupcakes.  Go ahead and mark your calendar for next year’s festivities.

Enjoy the day! xx

So, Stephanie has been doing an amazing job of wrapping soaps.  It’s on the cusp of greatness, really.  I mean, seriously, look at that attention to detail.  And as always, all of the wrapping is 100% ecofriendly.  You can get yours here.

On November 13, 2010, skinnyskinny will celebrate our storefront’s one-year anniversary.  Now, we ordinarily don’t need an excuse to have a party, but we’re more than happy to share this celebration with everyone who has supported us throughout the past year. In short, we love you, guys (and gals).  We’ll have great sales, free samples, raffles, and of course, wine (special thanks to Josh) and refreshments.

When: 8-11pm, Saturday, November 13, 2010.

Where: 129b Roebling Street, Brooklyn. (718)366-2201 for more information or email: info@skinnyskinny.com

We hope to see you all there!

Organic Clementine with just a little Clove Body Scrub

Friday, October 8th, 2010

(by Clara)

So, our workshop/store already smells amazing.  Just ask anybody who’s ever been here.  On days, like today, when we make our awesome Organic Clementine and Clove Body Scrub, the whole place just takes on a slightly warmer, slightly home-ier scent. Clove, while not being at all overpowering in our recipe, is still so evocative of so many good things and nice times. Holidays, spiced tea, fireplaces, warmth… The best part is that it smells so nice on your skin.  The scrub is a blend of sea salt and organic turbinado sugar, jojoba, sesame and virgin coconut oils. It gently exfoliates while leaving your skin incredibly soft and moisturized.  It’s one of my favorite scent blends.  Just the right balance of sugar and spice.

Hello Everyone out there in DIY-ville-

We’ve just added several new classes to our Fall/Winter line-up! We’ve got more soapmaking classes, plus some awesome organic body care classes where you can make the loveliest holiday gifts ever.  Or keep everything for yourself… And eat cupcakes, too (for that, take the body care classes)!

Do You Drink Wine? We Can Help…

For all you folks in Brooklyn, we’re starting a new project (OMG! it’s so hush-hush…) and we’d be oh-so-happy to take your old empties off your hands.  We’ll even give you something awesome in return (we’re intentionally generous negotiators…). So, drop by our store at 129 Roebling Street with your empty wine bottles.  Say ‘hi’ and know that your empties are really truly being recycled.  So, drink up! It’s for a good cause.

Having a store is pretty awesome usually, but one of the nicest things is that my dog makes so many friends.  I swear she seems to have more friends than I do.  This is my pup, Haley (the black one) with Blanche outside the store:

Have a good day, everyone.

Just ‘cuz these are pretty…

Freedom of Religion

Friday, August 13th, 2010

skinnyskinny seldom ventures into overtly political territory.  Actually, this doesn’t even qualify as politics.  It’s just plain absurdity and hatred.  I’m talking about all of the ‘controversies’ around building mosques in the US.  This assinine resistance by some isn’t just in NYC, it’s all over the country.  Seriously, WTF?  skinnyskinny as a company, as well as the individuals who work here are strong proponents of religious freedom.  Freedom from religion, too.  skinnyskinny is also remarkably fond of critical thinking and frankly, the stupidity of these ‘controversies’ is no different from McCarthyism, which kinda sucked. End of my soapbox diatribe.

Such Pretty Cupcakes…Enjoy!

(posted by Clara) You’d really have to be a mean ol’ curmudgeon not to fall in love with this place.  Enjoy Cupcakes in California. It looks so, well…sweet.  Plus, they have such an amazing range of flavors.
