These are the first of the classes to be offered by us, but plans include classes on scent creation and perfumery, the basics of sensual massage (in time for Valentine’s Day!) and much more. Great Things About Having a Store
Sunday, December 13th, 2009Yesterday, a customer came into the store and was admiring the salvaged wood that we’ve used to build-out our store. As we were talking, he mentioned that he was from Tennessee. I told him that I was from Tennessee. He said that he had bought a house in Springhill, which is not so far from where 2 of my brothers live (one lives in College Grove and the other in Franklin). It turns out that this man is Peter Jenkins, author of Walk Across America, which was required reading when I was in high school. Maybe it’s still required reading. My point in mentioning this is that having a store has all sorts of tangential perks, like meeting really interesting people. And of course he bought some soaps.

Organic Potpourri!
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009For anyone who knows me, you will know I have been on a quest for some time now to re-hab potpourri’s image. Usually, when I tell someone that I’ve been working on it, I’m lucky if the person just says ‘huh…?’ Often enough, there’s outright derision. Well, to prove to all those nay-sayers that potpourri can be as beautiful, enticing and complex, here at long last is skinnyskinny’s first entry into the potpourri world: Organic Lavender & Sage Potpourri.

All of the ingredients in this blend are certified organic. It’s made from lavender buds, white ceremonial sage, lemons and limes (that we cut and dried ourselves), roses, birds’ eye chili peppers, and lots of other little goodies. This potpourri is great as a room freshener or in sachets. The scent is strong and well-balanced. It’s not overly cloying or perfume-y. It’s really lovely. And it can be yours very very soon, basically as soon as it gets added to our site.
